Sports enthusiasts will have no problem staying busy in Stockton with four professional sports teams, and numerous other professional, college, and regional sports opportunities.

Stockton is home to the Stockton Ports Professional Baseball Team, which play at the waterfront Stockton Ballpark, the Stockton Thunder Professional Hockey Team, the California Cougars Professional Indoor Soccer Team, and the Stockton Lightning Professional Arena 2 Football Team which all play at the 10,000 seat waterfront Stockton Arena.

The Sports Commission has joined the City of Stockton to bring new sporting events and tournaments to the area. Our intention is to also retain and enhance the many events Stockton has been hosting over the years.

The goal is to enhance Stockton's image, provide entertainment for the community and visitors, and contribute to the quality of life in the Stockton area.

The Commission's job is made easier by Stockton's great weather, the City's excellent athletic facilities (including the Stockton Arena and Ballpark, the University of the Pacific, and Delta College), our central location to other points of interest in California and the strong support of the business community in providing quality sporting events.

    Stockton Thunder Pro Hockey

    A newcomer to minor league hockey's ECHL Pacific Division, the Stockton Thunder will begin their first season in the San Joaquin Valley in the brand-new, glitzy $65-millon Stockton Arena, the centerpiece of the city's downtown North Shore redevelopment project which will seat 10,000 fans. This exciting hockey team was a recent relocation from the east coast as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, where they captured the team's first Kelly Cup Championship in 2003.     Stockton Lightning Football

    Stockton Ports California's Class-A League affiliate of the four-time World Champion Oakland A's , the Stockton Ports are set to kick off a new era of professional baseball in the San Joaquin Valley . This exciting professional minor-leagueteam plays home games at the brand new, $22 million Banner Island Ballpark, located on the North Shore of Stockton's Deep Water Channel in downtown Stockton, California.
